New Caledonia Health Care and Vaccinations

New Caledonia Health Care and Vaccinations
New Caledonia offers a wide range of efficient medical services in both public and private hospitals, and an adequate selection of chemists. Hotels can generally recommend an English-speaking doctor or dentist. However more serious cases may require evacuation to France or Australia. Health insurance is advised.

Food and drink:

Mains water is normally chlorinated and generally regarded as safe to drink. Bottled water is available and is advised for the first few weeks of the stay. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are considered safe to eat.

Other risks:

Vaccinations against tuberculosis and hepatitis B are sometimes recommended.
