Districts of Lesotho

The Kingdom of Lesotho is divided into ten districts, each headed by a district administrator. Each district has a capital known as a camptown. The districts are further subdivided into 80 constituencies, which consist of 129 local community councils. Most of the districts are named after their capitals. Hlotse, the capital of Leribe District is also known as Leribe. Conversely, the Berea District is sometimes called Teyateyaneng, based on its capital.

Climate of Lesotho

Because of its altitude, the country remains cooler throughout the year than most other regions at the same latitude. Lesotho has a continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Maseru and its surrounding lowlands often reach 30 °C (86 °F) in the summer. Winters can be cold with the lowlands getting down to −7 °C (19.4 °F) and the highlands to −20 °C (−4.0 °F) at times.

Lesotho Health Care and Vaccinations

Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is recommended. Medical facilities in Lesotho are limited and there is no ambulance service. Treatments for some cases may require transfer to a South African hospital; good facilities are available in Blomfontein, 145km (90 miles) west of Maseru.
