Vatican City is a city state that came into existence in 1929. It is therefore to be clearly distinguished from the Holy See, which already was in existence for many centuries before that date.
The Vatican climate is the same as Rome's; a temperate, Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters from September to mid-May and hot, dry summers from May to August.
The Sistine Chapel, which is located at the Apostolic Palace, is popular for housing historic items like the paintings created by famous artists such as Sandro Botticelli and Michelangelo.
Some of the paintings displayed in the chapel are The Temptation of Christ and the Scenes from the Life of Moses. Other popular paintings featured in this tourist destination are the Last Judgment and the Ancestors of Christ.
