Cyprus is divided into six districts (Greek: επαρχίες eparchies; Turkish: kaza), whose capitals share the same name. The districts are further divided up into municipalities.
In Cyprus we have a variety of wedding traditional customs. Most Cypriots are Greek Orthodox, few of them are Catholic. When a couple becomes engaged the parents of the groom and the bride are gathering to the bride’s house and bless the couple over food and wine.
Easter is considered to be the greatest festival in the Orthodox Christian religion. The Resurrection of Christ in particular, known as 'Lambri' in the Cypriot dialect, is celebrated with splendour. On the island of Cyprus, the feeling of devoutness during the Holy Week is combined with Easter customs which lend the festival another dimension.
